Tips and Tricks I Learned From Binge-Watching Vogue Beauty Secrets

But did I use any of these tips to create this photo? Nope.

I've never really been one to sit and watch a long makeup tutorial. That is until I decided to sit down and binge watch Vogue Beauty Secrets on Vogue's YouTube channel. In this series, models and celebrities go through their skincare routine and one of their signature makeup looks. While there was a lot of generic tips and tricks, I found some very useful, and will be adding them to my routine ASAP, so I thought I would share them with everyone!

Before I get into the tips, I have to address the fact that the videos I watched were people who's skin tone or skin concerns were the same as mine, or if they were teaching a specific look I wanted to learn. That being said, a lot of this advice is from pale women with sensitive skin, so I highly recommend taking time to watch some videos for yourself. Also, most these tips come from Lily Collins because out of all the ones I watched she was the best at explaining the reasons behind her routine and look.

Now I present Tips and Tricks from Vogue Beauty Secrets

  • USE SUNSCREEN- Seriously, this was mentioned in every video I watched. It's so important to protect your skin.

  • Find a sunscreen that doubles as primer (Lily Collins)- This protects your skin, but also allows for a smoother makeup application.

  • Eat healthy and drink a lot of water (Nicola Peltz)- Our diet affects our skin more than we realize. The healthier we eat, the better our skin looks.

  • Again, drink water (Dove Cameron)- In Dove's video she claimed you can really see the difference. Stay hydrated to keep your skin hydrated.

  • Never forget the neck (Madelaine Petsch)- I know I've been guilty of this at times, but you neck deserves as much love as your face, so don't forget to include it in your routine.

  • Use a jade roller (rolling outwards) to combat puffiness and lock in moisture (Lily Collins)- this is a great step at the end of the routine to really lock in the moisture from moisturizers and other products.

  • Use a lip scrub and lip balm for soft lips and even lipstick application (Lily Collins)- This keeps your lips hydrated, especially if you're like me and love a red lip.

  • If you take care of your skin, you won't need as much makeup (Madelaine Petsch)- A better skincare routine means less makeup product you have to use on your face to mask any skin concerns.

  • French beauty is about looking natural as possible (Camille Rowe)- I've always admired the simplicity and the elegance of French beauty looks, and the way to achieve is just doing less.

  • Embrace pale skin, and use blush to contour (Lily Collins)- This one spoke to me because I've always though bronzers were to dark for my skin, but now I know I can use blush to create a contour look.

  • Use makeup remover to clean up your cat eye (Nicola Peltz)- a lot of times I have committed to a rough looking wing, but now I realize I can mess up and clean it up.

  • Use a brow brush to separate lashes (Lily Collins)- This is definitely the lesser extreme of Audrey Hepburn's safety pin tip, but it really works! Using a brow brush allows for lashes to be fuller and less clumpy.

  • Lipstick then gloss for lips (Lily Collins)- This is just a fun tip to create a glossy lip, but still play around with color.

  • You can mix red lipsticks to create the perfect red (Camille Rowe)- There are so many red lipsticks out there, and sometimes it's hard to choose between two, so why not use both?

Now these are really just a few tips, but there are so many useful ones out there! The important thing to remember is that everyone's skin is different, so you have to find what works for you!
