Superheroes, Villains, and a Barbie?

Barbie is basically a hero because she can do anything

Recently, I've thought about changing my job description to socialite because I got invited to yet another party. This one was for Halloween. Thanks to my involvement with Nolcha Shows, I was added to the guest list for the Superheroes and Villains Party at La Cubana NYC. I was also told I could bring guests, and our admission and drinks would be free. Being a broke New Yorker, this was music to my ears. My roommate and I were doing our best to find cheap Halloween plans, and now we had our night sorted.

I am one of those people who plans their Halloween costume months before, and being the so-called fashionista that I am, I usually use the holiday as an excuse to expand my wardrobe. In the past, dressing up Cher from Clueless and Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's weren't just cute costumes, but fashionable investments. For months I had my eye on the Calvin Pant in Magenta from the brand Lovers and Friends. They were truly the inspiration for my costume. Because they were pink and girly, I decided to be Barbie for about the hundredth time. I paired my hot pink pants with a black body suit that said Barbie that I found on Etsy. I accessorized with every piece of rose gold jewelry I could find, and even put on bright pink glitter eye shadow, and just like that Barbie was ready to go party.

Pumpkin Couture?

I was beyond pumped when I arrived at the venue for the party. I invited my roommate and her boyfriend as my guests. (I'm also considering changing my job description to professional third wheel.) They were dressed as Danny and Sandy from Grease. We arrived at the party a little early, so there wasn't much of a crowd yet, but it was the perfect way to take in the atmosphere. I noticed the décor was typical for any Halloween party. There were cobwebs and pumpkins everywhere I looked. The bartenders and wait staff all had their faces painted like the Joker. I was not a fan of this because I have a fear of clowns but admired the dedication to the theme. As any party should, they had a dance floor and D.J. and I was excited to dance the night away. Unlike any party I've ever been to, they had a performance by an electro violinist. She played her violin the some hit songs and danced through the crowd. It was very entertaining and brought everyone to the dance floor. After that, we continued to dance. When "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé came on my roommate and I were #extra and broke out into full choreography. We out-danced everyone at the party (as we should considering we're both trained dancers), and, on that note, we decided to leave.

Of course, we didn't let the night end there. We decided we were hungry, and found an amazing Mexican restaurant, Temerario NYC. The restaurant had exactly what we wanted freshly made chips and salsa and amazing margaritas. Though the food and drinks were good, what was most amazing was the atmosphere. They were playing fun Latin music and everywhere I looked people were dancing. The restaurant might have even been more fun than the party itself, and we definitely plan on going back soon!

Before I knew it, Halloween had come to an end, and it was time to welcome the rest of the Holiday season. Overall, it was amazing night with friends and now I can cross Halloween party in NYC off my bucket list.

XOXO,

Kristin
