We're jet-setting once again, but this time to Milan, Italy for, yes, some more fabulous Fall/ Winter, high-fashion content. If there is anything Italian fashion is known for its gorgeous shoes, and fabulous outerwear, so their F/W fashion week is not one to be missed.
Just like NYC and London, the pandemic placed many restrictions on MFW, so they opted for an entirely digital week. However, most of these digital presentations were made to be just like a typical runway show, so your laptop is more than ever a front row seat. The designers really were able to show off their creativity, and, yes, I am talking about my favorites below.
Dolce & Gabbana
Bright, fun, and colorful are all understatements when discussing the Dolce & Gabbana F/W '21 Ready-to-Wear collection. The collection was both an ode to the 90's and a bright, positive look on the future. With many oversized tees with slogans such as "90's Supermodel and statement making pieces out of fabrics with fun textures it has both a taste of nostalgia and optimism that we seem to be craving. It truly speaks to this current generation of digital creators who have brought the 90's back with their fashion choices. I loved the use of robots on the runway, and the bright futuristic setting of the show. Being girl who lives to sparkle, my personal favorite pieces were the last few finale pieces that were decked out in all the rhinestones that a girl could dream of. In our current times, it's hard to say what I future will look like, but I wouldn't be opposed to colorful clothes and high-fashion robots!

Prada
The F/W '21 presentation for Prada was interesting one to say the least. When I saw the first few pieces and the styling I wasn't initially sold. However, the set for the show kept me intrigued. Models walked empty rooms featuring all different colors and textures. The beautiful blues, loud purples, and bold reds were warm and bright, and made me want to see what was to come. Of course, what to come was fabulous coats and other outerwear pieces. My personal favorite being the yellow puff sleeve coat pictured above. According to Vogue Runway, Simmons and Prada designed this collection with an optimistic look at our new normal. Seen in the clothing and the styling there is an ease that we've grown accustomed to having with our clothing during the pandemic, but the faux fur, bright colors, and use of sequins represent the hope we have for after the pandemic.

Fendi
Neutrals? For Fall? Groundbreaking. Well, it actually is when Fendi does it. This F/W womenswear collection was creative director Kim Jones's first for Fendi since he took on the new role. For his first womenswear collection he wanted to celebrate the history of both Rome and Fendi. When the models walk out the first thing you notice is the recurrent tan shade. Gradually, this shifts to white, brown, and black. According to Vogue Runway the use of only neutral colors was to reflect Fendi's use of neutrals in the past and the mineral colors of Rome. The set had scattered Roman artifacts showcased in glass like they were on display at a museum to honor where the brand came from. This looked beautiful, but only amplified the pieces in the collection. As for the clothing, it was classic, elegant, and absolutely beautiful. I, for one, will be looking for dupes for about every piece that went down the runway.

Missoni
When I started watching the video for Missoni's F/W Ready-to-Wear collection, my first thought was that bowling shoes have never looked so fabulous. Quickly, the models moved from one setting to the next. Each time looking more stunning than before. This was because the designer, Angela Missoni, wanted to showcase a group of girls going through real life situations. This meant lounging, parties, business, and even travel. For this knitwear brand, it was about showcasing comfort. I mean comfort is usually my first thought when picking out a sweater in the fall, and I'll gladly where a sequin, knitwear evening gown if I can be comfortable and chic. Even with a comfortable approach, I found all the pieces to still be sleek and fashion-forward, and would love to add any of them to my fall wardrobe.

Moschino
Once again Jeremey Scott brought us a taste of his wonderful whimsy with his F/W '21 collection for Moschino. In the short film for his presentation, Scott had models at a theater as stars in different "plays". All these plays, a New York business world, a leisurely countryside, an extravagant art museum, and a fierce jungle scene, were a representation of what we've been missing, moments to dress up for. Even the adoring audience, Winnie Harlow being one of the notable names, we dressed to 9's. I, for one, know I've missed dressing up for more than just a quick photo or a trip to the grocery store (yes, I am that person, and, no, you're not surprised). That's what the entire collection was about, dressing up for a post pandemic world. He offered chic suits for work, elegant gowns for those balls we all attend, cute dresses for leisure, and anything and everything else we've been missing. I for one can't wait for the day I can really dress up again, and I hope to be wearing a chic pinstripe blazer just like the only Haley Bieber is wearing!
Heads Up: The presenatation ends on a rather "cheeky" note.

Every time I watch the shows from Milan, my heart aches a bit because I was supposed to go for S/S '21 Fashion Week last September, but I also feel hopeful. Watching the creativity of these virtual presentations reminds me that the Fashion industry will never die out, and live shows will make a comeback. I plan on being there when they do!
