Just a (Malibu) Barbie Girl

*cue "Barbie Girl" by Aqua

I have to admit there are a few stages in life that I don't think I'll ever grow out of, and my Barbie phase is one of them. (Truly, I think I've dressed up as Barbie at least ten times in my adult life.) So, when Colourpop released a collaboration with Malibu Barbie, I hit add to cart with no hesitation. Somehow, I did have some self-control, and didn't buy the entire collection. However, I did buy all three lip kits and the doll lashes, and, well, I have no regrets. In fact, I loved the products and decided to share why in this post!

How cute is this packaging?!?

Before I get into each product individually, I have to say I could be sold on the packaging alone. The Barbie logo was cutely placed on each product, and everything was, of course, pink! My favorite detail was that each of the lipsticks had the word Barbie engraved on it. I could not wait to try the products because at first glance, they did not disappoint.

The Lux Lipstick Kits

I've never been much of a joiner when it comes to beauty and fashion trends. This is because one thing I have always been confident in is my personal style. When it comes to beauty this means, natural yet glam. I never shy away from a bold red or a bit of shimmer. However, when Kylie Jenner popularized lip kits, I stayed away. I thought lip kits in general caused lips to look too full and fake. However, after trying the ones in this Colourpop collaboration, my mind is forever changed.

Dreamhouse

The perfect neutral doesn't exi-

While I love a bold lip, I also like to keep it neutral at times. By neutral, I mean looking natural, but still noticeably wearing lipstick, and this lip kit did just that. The liner made it easy to fill in with the lipstick, and made my lips look just a bit fuller. While, the creamy finish of the lipstick gave it the perfect beachy, dewy glow. Truly, I felt like a found the perfect neutral lip duo,and will probably be wearing it almost everywhere.

Perfect For: A Beach Brunch (Well, one that turns into a full Sunday Funday.)

Rating: 9/10 Kisses. I almost gave this a perfect ten because I love this Barbie pink shade that much. However, I did not test how long lasting it was just yet, so I cannot allow it to have a perfect score until I do.

Golden Beach

Feeling "beachy" keen. Sorry I had to.

I'm literally never known to rock a tan lip, but when you slap the name Barbie on it, I figured it's at least worth a try! When putting this on, I did feel ready to go lay out on a beach but did recognize this color wasn't the best for my pale, cool-toned skin. It was by no means bad just not really complimentary to my skin tone. Although, if you see me wearing it at the beach this summer, no you didn't.

Perfect For: A Beach Day

Rating: 7/10 Kisses. I still loved the quality of the products. I just wasn't obsessed with the color.

Malibu Sunset

"Come on Barbie, Let's go party!"

There's no makeup product I love more than a bold lipstick. (False lashes are close runner-up, but don't quite make the cut.) This fuchsia toned one, is the perfect bold lip for any night out. Seriously, I did test how long lasting this lipstick was, and it lasted all day! This means it could make it through any fun evening. This one made me feel the most like Barbie because it was loud, fun, and of course, still pink. In fact, I think if Barbie was a real person, she would choose this berry tone over a true red any day!

Perfect For: A Beach Bar Crawl

Rating: 9/10. I was obsessed with this and will be wearing it as much as possible. However, when it come to a bold lip Rouge Dior 999 will always have my heart.

Doll Lashes- Falsies Faux Lashes

I am seriously obsessed with false lashes. There such a fun way to play around with any beauty look, I prefer mine to be natural yet glamourous, and these Doll Lashes did just that. They added nice length and volume without being over the top. They were also super easy to apply and lasted all day. After putting them on (and still rocking my Malibu Sunset lipstick kit), I truly felt like a real life Barbie, and felt like I could do anything!

Perfect For: A Beach Brunch, followed by laying out on the beach, followed by a bar crawl, so basically everything.

Rating: 10/10. A perfect score! I seriously could not get over how natural these looked, and how easy they were to apply. Assuming this is a limited edition collection, I will be buying them in bulk.

So, as you can see, I was seriously obsessed with the Malibu Barbie X Colourpop collection. Trying out all these products made me feel like a little girl playing dress up again which is how I think putting makeup on should feel. It should be fun and exciting not just something we do because we feel like we have to. Now, all I ask is that someone takes my card away from me before I buy the rest of the collection.

XOXO,

Kristin
