A Diamond in the Rough

Updated: May 27, 2021

Jasmine is a princess I've always loved. She's sassy and stands her ground. She is truly a woman who knows her worth. Plus, girl knows how to rock a crop top, and that bubble ponytail is absolute goals. Her flirty style is absolutely stunning, and I couldn't wait to put my own 2021 spin on it!

Jasmine's Beauty Look

We all know Jasmine's beauty look is nothing short of FIERCE.

When channeling Jasmine, I knew I had to be able to rock a pretty bold look. In the movie, she does not play when it comes to her hair and makeup, so I knew I couldn't either. For her makeup;

  • I started with my lashes, and applied Tartiest Pro Vegan Lashes in Center of Attention (cause Jasmine always is, as she should be).

  • From there, I filled in my brows with a brow pencil.

  • Next, I created a dramatic long wing using a liquid eyeliner.

  • Then, using Chip, a pale neutral, from It' a Princess Thing Eyeshadow Palette I set my base for my remaining eye makeup.

  • From there, I applied the shade Triton, a brown, to my creases.

  • Then, I used the shade One Kiss?, a sparkling gold, for my lids.

  • I then, highlighted my Bow Bone and inner corner using the shade Prince Charming, a shimmery white.

  • I finished my eye look by applying a gold liquid liner to my lower lash line.

  • From there, I applied foundation all over my face and concealer where it was necessary.

  • I used a peachy blush to contour underneath my cheekbones.

  • After that, I applied highlight to my cheekbones, above my brows, my nose, and my chin.

  • I finished my bold look by applying the deep red Chanel Pirate lipstick to my lips to rock a similar lip color to Jasmine.

For my hair I wanted to recreate Jasmine's bubble ponytail, but to put my own twist on it I wore it high with no part.

The Accessories

Throughout the movie, Jasmine wear stunning gold accessories, so I wanted to do the same. So I wore;

  • Gold dangling earrings with a teardrop shape and rhinestone details.

  • A gold layered choker, also with rhinestone details

  • And (you guessed it) gold strappy stilettoes

The only things I was missing was the magic lamp and flying carpet!

A Chic Yet Casual Take on her Blue Crop Top

We already know that Jasmine can rock a cold shoulder!

Seriously, I have always been obsessed with Jasmine's turquoise off-the-shoulder crop top. So much so that I've had notifications turned on for a nearly identical one to come back in stock at Hello Molly. Sadly, it hasn't yet, but luckily, I found this one that just screams present day Jasmine. The cold shoulders plus high neckline is both chic and flirty. I can imagine Jasmine gossiping about her potential suitors with Raja in this 'fit!

Turning Her Peasant Outfit into Loungewear

If Jasmine can steal Aladdin's heart in a loungewear set, she has him for life.

I know that a woman who spends all her time in a castle would have plenty of cute and cozy loungewear. This set in particular reminded of the scene wear Jasmine meets Aladdin in the markets. She was dressed as a peasant, yet it was still love at first sight, so I imagine that a present-day Jasmine would have no problem stealing his heart in a loungewear set. Especially a cropped one with a feminine one-shoulder moment.

Reminding Jafar That He Can't Have Her or Her Kingdom

This outfit says, " I don't have time for an evil sorcerer who wants to steal my kingdom."

My favorite outfit from the entire movie is Jasmine's red two-piece set that she wears when Jafar takes over. In typical Jasmine fashion, she was fiery and fought back, so I wanted to channel that energy into this outfit while staying true to my feminine, classic self. I chose a red two-piece set with a tie-crop top to add a bit of a girly twist to what is otherwise a chic and fiery outfit. I could totally see her fighting back at Jafar in this.

Turning her Signature Two-Piece into a Jumpsuit Moment

Alright, So who wants to go on a Magic Carpet ride?

While Jasmine is most known for her blue set, I think in present day she could totally rock a jumpsuit. I love this one for all its various flirty details. The cutouts stay true to Jasmine's usual crop top style. While the slits add show a bit more skin without it being too much. I imagine her on her magic carpet ride carefree and falling in love with Aladdin.

Dressing up as Jasmine allowed me to feel confident, flirt, and like I can truly stand my ground. More than some of the other princesses I have dressed up like so far, I was reminded how clothing is just an extension of who you are, and the right outfit can make you feel like you can conquer the world. Now don't be surprised if you spot me in any of these outfits, especially the red set.

XOXO,

Kristin
