Of course, for the grand finale of my Disney Princess Fashion Week, I'm going with a literal queen. I mean Elsa of course! When Frozen came out in 2013 it quickly became beloved for a number of reasons. Personally (and no shocker here), I loved the fashion. Elsa's gowns were something I could actually see walking down an haute couture runway during Paris Fashion Week. All this being said, I could not wait to recreate her style because I knew I could really turn up the glam and be my #extra af self!
Elsa's Beauty Look
For Elsa's look, I knew I wanted to be a bit more high fashion runway and less my usual everyday glam. I really wanted to play on the fact that she's a Snow Queen and use pale metallics. So...
I applied Lilly Lashes Lite Faux Mink Lashes in Diamonds.
Then, using a brow pencil, I filled in my eyebrows.
Using Chip, a light neutral tone, from It's a Princess Thing Eyeshadow Palette, I set my base for my eye makeup
Then, using Thingamabob, a sparkling silver shade, as a liner, I created a dramatic wing and lined both my top and bottom lash line.
I finished off my eye makeup by using Prince Charming, a sparkling, snowy white, to highlight my brow bone and inner corner.
Next, I applied my foundation and concealer.
Then using a shimmery pale pink highlighter I highlighted my nose, chin, cheekbones, and above my brows.
I finished my snow queen, Avant Garde makeup look by applying Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Sunset Punch, a very pale metallic pink.
For my hair, I knew I had to do Elsa's iconic braid, but once again I gave it my own twist. I gave myself a side part, and then then French braids on both sides. I then, brought both braids together to create a side braid. I finished off the hair by adding a few pearl and rhinestone bobby pins on each side.
The Accessories
What I wanted the most out of these accessories was the shine as much as Elsa's ice castle. I wore;
White, square toed, rhinestone, Steve Madden heels
Rhinestone dangling earrings
And a diamond necklace (I know casual)
Playing Around with her Powers in the Castle
For my first outfit, I wanted to play around with her iconic pale blue without it being a full take on her "Let It Go" ballgown. I believe a present day Elsa would be very fashion-forward and be able to pull off a satin two-piece with ease. I love this set because the top is asymmetrical which makes it a bit more Avant Garde than your typical satin crop top. Also, while Ela has ice powers, we know the cold never bothered her, so she would be able to show a bit more skin, all while being the classy queen that she is.
Changing her Green Dress into a Brunch Fit
In a cute little short called Frozen Fever, Elsa wears this stunning green dress for the Spring. Because I associate springtime with rooftop brunches, I decided it would be fun to give our queen a springtime brunch look. I wore a light green corset with pink floral details to channel her dress. Then paired them with straight leg jeans with pearls on the bottom to stay include an icier yet high fashion element. Though spring really isn't Elsa's season, we all know she would look stunning throughout it, especially wearing this outfit.
Discovering the Unknown
Normally, I would never put on white dress. It's just not my color. However, Elsa proved it was hers in Frozen II when she finally discovered the secrets of the unknown. In that scene, she ends up in a gorgeous white gown that I think even wedding dress designers would be jealous of. I did not go as full glam as her gown but wanted my dress to still read as fashion-forward. The white dress I chose has cutouts and puff sleeves that create a more interesting silhouette than just your standard slip dress. It's simply something that Elsa would rock in 2021!
Letting It Go!
Of course, I had to recreate Elsa's signature blue gown, but I didn't want to do it in a way that was expected. I also thought that in 2021 Elsa's look would be a bit edgier and look more New York Fashion Week ready. I chose to wear a light blue, oversized blazer set, and wear the blazer over the shoulders. I finished off the look with a stunning rhinestone corset that had Elsa's name written all over it. After putting this on, I was truly ready to let it go!
Creating outfits for a present day Elsa ended up being my favorite out of all of them. I felt like this is where I best channeled my fully extra, glamourous, and high fashion self. Doing this also felt more like styling a runway show or a high fashion editorial shoot. Which is the life I'm hoping to go back to very soon. Dressing up like all of the princesses, especially Elsa, reminded me to chase my dreams, and not to be anything less than my fabulous self!
XOXO,
Kristin
