How to Wear Pantone's Colors of the Year!

Confession: I don't own any yellow (yet). This is my sister's shirt.

Well, we've finally made it to 2021, and, of course, my resolutions included living my most #extra and fabulous life! After a rough 2020, I want to find ways to stay positive and add joy to my life. One way I thought of, was by adding a bit more color to my wardrobe. I might have only lived in NYC for six months, but I quickly adjusted to nearly all black wardrobe. After Pantone announced their two colors of the year for 2021, I realized these would be the perfect colors to add to my closet!

Pantone chose two colors this year because the combination of the two represents what we need after enduring 2020. The first color being Ultimate Gray to represent dependability. The second be Illuminating, a yellow shade, to represent optimism and hope. Gray is a great neutral to have in any wardrobe. Being perfectly between white and black it can go with any color. Yellow has an overall happy and positive vibe and putting it on can brighten any day. I will gladly be incorporating these colors into my wardrobe and have listed some cute ways you can do the same.

A Yellow Dress Andie Anderson Would Be Jealous Of

In this dress you'll for sure be able to win over and then lose any guy you want, but you'll only need 1 day!

Okay, so maybe she wouldn't be jealous. The dress Andie wears in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of the most iconic fashion moments in rom com history. In this dress you can totally channel Andie Anderson and will be sure to be turning heads! If you'd like to add a hint of gray, accessorize with silver heels and jewelry. It's not technically gray, but it's close enough!

The Influencer-Approved Blazer Dress

Oversized to perfection!

The blazer trend isn't going anywhere. They've been all over the front row at fashion week, all over our Instagram feeds, and probably made many an appearance at our Zoom Happy Hours. A blazer dress is the perfect way to show 2021 you mean business. To add a splash of yellow, you can always accessorize with some cute boots or a belt!

This Two Piece Outfit to Channel Your Inner Cher Horowitz

I don't know about you, but Cher Horowitz has the energy that I plan on bringing into 2021. This yellow and gray plaid skirt and gray cardigan are a cute take on the Clueless lead's iconic look. Pair with heeled Mary Jane's and white knee high if you want to fully channel Cher. Otherwise, white sneakers are just as cute and will have you saying "Ugh, as if" to any bad vibes.

This Oh So Chic Coat and Pant Combination

Outerwear doesn't have to be boring! This yellow coat is both chic and cheerful. The plaid gray pants add a nice neutral tone to the bold outerwear look. Add a cute white top and you'll look like you just walked off the Prada runway!

A Cute and Cozy Loungewear Set

Yes, I'm recommending this sweatshirt again, but it's in a different color this time!

Just because we have entered 2021, doesn't mean this pandemic is over (depressing, I know). But just because we're stuck inside for a bit longer, doesn't mean we can't look cute and comfy while doing so! This two-piece yellow loungewear set is the perfect way to do just that! if you want to add gray swap out the shorts for some gray biker shorts. Either way you'll be looking your best as you continue to WFH!

So, the clock turning midnight on January 1st, 2021, might not have solved all our problems, however we can look ahead. I know I will be adding both these colors to my wardrobe because I could use some hope and dependability in my life. It's definetley not a solution, but at least it will help keep me looking forward!
