Dressing Like a Spice Girl

"If you wannabee my lover, you gotta get with my friends"

I love the Spice Girls! This is for many reasons. First, of course, being the music. I basically play "Wannabee" on repeat. Second, is because of that iconic movie that they made. I could honestly go on and on, but the last reason I'll mention (and the whole point of this post), is that I love their fashion. They truly delivered many amazing fashion moments, and those moments deserve to be repeated. I decided I am the perfect person to take on that task, so I've taken each of their signature looks and made it my own.

Sporty Spice

Probably the Spice Girl who's aesthetic I'm the least like, but, ironically, have the most outfits for.

The Look: Adidas track pants, a sports bra, running shoes, and hair in a high-ponytail with a scrunchie.

My Take: As much as I love Adidas, I don't own any of their track pants, so opted for a jogger with fun red detailing, and put on a matching halter sports bra. I stayed true to the running shoes and the scrunchie, though. Why mess with a good thing?

Ginger Spice

I live for red dress moments!

The Look: Head-to-toe in red

My Take: Ginger's most iconic look is probably the union jack dress, however, I loved how she could rock a head-to-toe red look. Plus, if a red dress can get Nick Jonas to sing the way he does in "Burning Up" it's totally worth wearing. I chose a fun, sequin dress and paired it with booties to give a nod towards the shoes Ginger pairs with the Union Jack dress.

Posh Spice

Forever my favorite Spice Girl!

The Look: The little black dress!

My Take: If Audrey Hepburn hadn't already done it before her, I would have given credit to Victoria Beckham for making the LBD a staple. I chose a sleek, spaghetti strap one, just like Posh would wear, but paired it with rhinestone, black pumps to add some #extra glamour to the look. I just hope that Victoria Beckham herself would approve.

Baby Spice

I also live for a pink dress moment!

The Look: Pink dress, white platform sneakers, and pigtails

My Take: Obviously, I didn't stray too far from this look either, but I did have some fun with it. My pink dress has a leopard pattern, and instead of white platform sneakers, I opted for white Adidas with rose gold stripes. (To match the dress, of course!) I had no choice but to finish the look with Baby's signature pigtails!

Scary Spice

You're probably tired of seeing me pose with a peace sign by now, but, don't worry, it's the last one.

The Look: Leopard, leopard, and more leopard

My Take: I am truly convinced that no one can wear leopard print better than Scary Spice. She had so many fun leopard print outfits which made this look the most exciting to play around with. I wore a black tank top, leather shorts, black tights, and heeled combat boots. I did threw on my favorite faux leopard fur coat, and put my hair in space buns. Needless to say, I felt fierce and fabulous.

After wearing all these Spice Girl looks, I think it's funny that we all choose one that we're most like, at least, from a fashion standpoint. I can easily see how I channel each Spice Girl in different moments. Posh has always been my favorite based on style due to her chic fashion sense, but I always like to add a girly twist to my looks which also channels Baby. I love wearing red like Ginger and leopard like Scary. Also, let's face it, in current times we're all rocking athleisure looks just like Sporty. These five women really defined many iconic fashion trends, and I'm happy to see that their trends have continued into 2021!

XOXO,

Kristin
