Book Club: Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend

Sorry this book has nothing to do with Marilyn Monroe or Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I promise it's still worth your read!

I have always dreamed of going to London. I can see myself shopping on Bond Street, going to high tea in the afternoon, and taking in all the beautiful sights. Basically, I could imagine myself living like a posh girl (only poor and a tourist). Sadly, that trip is still way in my future, but at least I can imagine it through a book.

I picked up Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend by Jenny Colgan while looking for a guilty pleasure read at Barnes and Noble. It follows posh girl Sophie Chesterton's It girl lifestyle. She gets into all the best parties, wears designer clothes, and, of course, is always with other A-listers. The twist though, is that she suddenly loses it all.

Soon, Sophie finds herself in a new apartment with four messy boy roommates, a new less than glamourous photographer assistant job, and in like any good guilty pleasure read caught in a love triangle. But suddenly, a book that I was just expecting to be an easy fun read became full of heart, and brought into question what is really important in life, love or luxury?
