Tale as old as time. An adventurous young woman finds herself trapped in a small town, but then said woman meets beast, and her life becomes full of adventure, and several iconic fashion moments. Belle is a princess who's style I was very excited to embody for present day. From her movie, her taste seems natural, elegant, and timeless which allows me to create looks I can wear time and time again.
Belle's Beauty Look
Belle doesn't strike me as someone who would have a glam makeup routine but rather a very natural look, or maybe even no makeup at all. That being said I wanted to keep my look simple and just highlight my natural features;
I start by applying Beauty Garde Faux Lashes to each lid.
After, I filled in my eyebrows.
Then I applied a base shade, Chip, to my lid from It's a Princess Thing Eye Shadow Palette.
From there, I applied the shade Triton, a brown, to my crease.
I finished off my eyes by applying my highlighter to my brow bone and inner corners.
I then, applied foundation and concealer
I finished my look my using my highlighter to add a subtle glow to my nose and cheekbones.
I'm usually none for doing more glamourous makeup looks so I was pretty proud that I was able to keep this one a bit more natural. For my hair I wanted to stay true to Belle and do a curly low ponytail. However, I chose to wear mine to the side. After all, I'm trying to embody a princess not a founding father.
The Accessories
While I wanted to keep my Belle outfits simple, I had to also stay true to myself which means, stunning accessories;
My gold initial necklace from Kate Spade
Dangling gold rose earrings
Neutral Pumps
And, of course, a single red rose #IYKYK
Turning Her Ballgown into a Brunch Outfit
Obviously the most iconic look from the entire movie is Belle's yellow ballgown. While I love any excuse to dress up, I also thought it would be fun to take a more casual approach to Belle's signature look (well, my version of casual). I found this gorgeous yellow off the shoulder top, and knew it totally channeled the ballgown. Since the top was still somewhat dressy, I paired it with ripped jeans. I could totally see Belle wearing this look in present day.
Strolling Through her Little Town
The outfit Belle wears the most throughout the movie is her blue dress with a white apron. She of course looks fab, but I wanted to give it a more girly approach. I chose an open back white blouse with puff sleeves and a blue plaid skirt. After putting it on I felt flirty, but still felt casual enough to stroll through town (again my version of casual).
Changing her Red Coat into a Chic Blazer Dress
In the winter scenes, Belle wears this chic red coat. Since, I'm in Florida and it's May, I used this as an excuse to rock another blazer. This time I went with an asymmetrical blazer dress with an open back. I do believe Belle could pull off this look as her coat was one of her more fashion forward moments, and still, of course, win the beast's heart.
A Sleek Take on her Iconic Yellow Gown
Like I said, Belle's ballgown was absolutely iconic, but in present day I imagine Belle to have a more elegant taste. This means less frilly and sleeker. While this wrap dress is simple, it shows off your legs with a slit and has a flirty back. In it I felt like my natural beauty was shining through which is what I imagine Belle would want.
I loved imagining Belle's outfits for the present day. It was fun to create looks that were elegant and allowed my natural beauty and personality to shine through. If we learned anything from her fairytale, it's that true beauty comes from within. As much as I love to dress, it's important that outfits only add to who you are and show your personality.
XOXO,
Kristin
