Are These Fake Eyelashes My New Good Luck Charm?

I will never get over how cute this packaging is!

When I first moved to New York last year, my aunt constantly reminded me to wear my fake eyelashes to every event (cause let's face it, I could not afford extensions). The craziest things happened when I followed her advice. I captured the attention of both a pro-soccer player and billionaire heir. I almost even got to walk the runway at Bridal Fashion Week. Every time I wore a pair, opportunity seemed to knock. Now, I'm not sure if lashes are some kind of good luck charm or if dressing-up and wearing a pair allows me to exude more confidence, but either way, I could use some of that now.

When the pandemic hit, I along with many other Millennial/ Gen Z cusps were forced to do the unthinkable, move back home. While I love my family, this has been a hard transition, and with all the New York memories popping up on my timeline, I've been feeling extra down lately. So, I decided to see if fake eyelashes could do what they've done for me before, and cheer me up. Who knows? Maybe even bring a new opportunity my way.

My go-to makeup brand, Too Faced, just launched their new Better Than Sex Faux Mink Falsie Lashes, and I decided testing a pair or two out would be the perfect pick-me-up. Though they launched with four styles, I decided to only get two to start. I like my lashes to look both natural and glamourous, so I obviously decided on trying out the pair called, Natural Flirt. I also being #extra as I am, thought I need to test out lashes to match, so I also decided to try Drama Queen.

The Flirty Ones: Too Faced Better Than Sex Faux Mink Falsie Lashes in Natural Flirt

I'll admit, I should have taken this photo closer to the lashes, but I loved my outfit

The description for these lashes read, "They say she's a natural flirt. Turn up the girl next door factor with these effortlessly natural lashes perfect for every day, first dates or a walk down the aisle." I'm so not ready for a walk down the aisle, but these are definitely first date approved. Not only did putting these on make me feel more confident and flirtier, but they were the perfect complement to my outfit. They added a bit of glamour to my look, but still looked natural enough to not be the focus of it.

Perfect For: First Dates! (I may or may not have tested these at one, and my date may or may not have complimented my "natural" beauty.)

Rating: 9/10 Winks. I loved how these looked on, but struggled slightly with the application. One could say that the band didn't mold to my eye shape well, but it also could have been user error. Either way, I'm excited to wear these again!

The Glamorous Ones: Better Than Sex Faux Mink Falsie Lashes in Drama Queen

Once again, I should have taken this photo closer to my face, but once again, I loved my outfit.

When it comes to my sense of style, I always say it's an elevated classic. I love pieces that are timeless, but with a more modern, fashionable twist. I found these lashes were the perfect complement to that aesthetic. They fanned out in a way that lashes naturally would, but the length and fullness added a sense of drama. The description read, "She's always the life of the party. Turn heads and turn up the drama with these over the top dramatic lashes that add extreme length and fullness, making them wonder- who is she?" I don't think my family was wondering who I was when I showed up on Thanksgiving rocking these lashes, but my aunt did compliment them, so that's a plus.

Perfect For: A Girl's Night Out (whenever we can have one of those again) or taking a cute outfit to the next level.

Rating: 10/10 Winks. A perfect score! Shocking! I was pleasantly surprised by how natural these looked while still having a glamorous feel. Plus, I nailed the application on the first try.

Now that you've made it to the end of my review, I bet you're wondering if these lashes turned out to be a good luck charm. Sadly, nothing too eventful happened while wearing these lashes (that's not to say that something won't happen in the future). However, dressing up and wearing a pair did allow me to find that sense of confidence that I have been missing lately. So, the next time I'm feeling down, I'll put together a cute outfit and throw a pair of eyelashes on. Who knows? Maybe I will get asked to model or meet my celebrity crush!

XOXO,

Kristin
