A Pretty, But Basic Makeup Tutorial

But seriously. How cute is this palette?

Even though, I'm known to be #extra, I can also be basic at times too. In fact, this brunch loving, Pinterest scrolling girl is proud of it! Basic girls are known for loving Starbucks, the Fall, shopping at Target, and wine just to name a few traits. They also can be known for loving neutral makeup palettes. When it comes to owning these palettes just like the iconic Mean Girls quote, "the limit does not exist." So, when I saw the women of the podcast Pretty Basic had teamed up with Tarte to make their own makeup set I decided I had to have it!

Pretty Basic is a podcast created by YouTubers Alisha Marie and Remi Cruz. As 20-something females, they cover many topics including boy drama, content creation, confidence, and basically everything else that young women want to talk about. They teamed up with Tarte Cosmetics to create a makeup set that has everything you need to make a cute makeup looks. The set includes Tarte's Lights, Camera Lashes Mascara and Sugar Rush Lip Sip Vegan Lip Oil. It also includes a highlighter, bronzer, and six eye neutral shadow shades all named after the podcast of course! It everything you need to create a pretty, but, yes, basic makeup look. This of course is exactly what I did!

Yes, I choose this pose because it's basic.

I wanted to create a look that was still natural, but as per usual had a bit of glamour.

  1. I prepped my face using my go-to primer, foundation, and concealer

  2. I used my go-to eyebrow pencil to fill in my brows.

  3. I applied the shade daisy, a matte nude color, from lid to brow.

  4. I applied perf, a mauve shade, to my crease.

  5. I used the highlighter, pretty, to highlight my inner corner and brow bone.

  6. I used the shade chloe, a deep matte brown, to line my upper lash line and create a small wing.

  7. I used the fun, silver shade, boy drama, to line my lower lash line, and add a pop of glitter.

  8. I applied the bronzer, basic, just below my cheekbones and outside my nose to give a bit of contour. (I'm really pale so I was careful not to use to much.)

  9. I finished off the look with the same highlighter from before. I applied pretty to my cheekbones, nose, and over the brow.

I would strongly recommend this makeup set to any of my pumpkin spice obsessing, oversized sweater-wearing, and makeup loving girls. This set truly has it all, and just like it says on the box, "take your look from basic to Pretty Basic."

XOXO,

Kristin
