A Grown-Up Summer Reading List

I promise these books are nothing like the ones you were forced to read growing up.

One of my least favorite parts of summer growing up was the required reading. I really just hated the fact that I had to do any work on my break. That i until I had started a new middle school, and summer reading was encouraged and not required. The best part was we got to choose the books we read. That's when I fell in love with reading.

Now that I'm no longer in school, all I do is read for the enjoyment of it, and, lately, I've been trying to read a book a week. I thought for the summer it would be fun to give myself a list of books to get through. This list includes exciting beach reads, a sense of wanderlust, heartwarming romance, and a scandalous thriller or two.

A Wine-Filled Summer in Scotland: The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent

I just started this book and already I'm obsessed. The story follows Birdy after she starts an amazing job at a high-class resort in Scotland as a sommelier. The only problem the job isn't actually hers, but her best friend Heather's. Impersonating your best friend for a while summer? What could possibly go wrong?

The Title Says It All: Beach Read by Emily Henry

My goal most summers is to find the perfect beach read, and based off the title of this book, I believe I have found it. This book follows two authors in neighboring beach houses both suffering with a severe case of writer's block. The solution, of course, is showing each other their worlds.

Secrets, Secrets, and More Secrets: The Siren by Katherine St. John

I'm known for my love of scandalous celebrity drama, and I believe this book will have its fill of it. Filming a movie in the Caribbean is sure to have a lot of excitement and scandal. Especially, when the stars were once husband and wife. When a hurricane leaves them, and two other ambitious women stranded on the island what secrets will come to light?

The Ultimate Beach Party: Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Doesn't everyone love a good beach party and watching drama unfold that's not their own? I know I do, and I have found the perfect book for just that. Set in August of 1983, this story follows the Rivas siblings on the evening of oldest sister Nina's annual beach party. Each sibling has a secret that comes to light all before their Malibu mansion goes down in flames.

Enemies to Lover... But Make It Paradise: The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Summer wouldn't be complete without a classic enemies to lovers novel, and The Unhoneymooners is exactly that! All her life Olive Torres has considered herself to be unlucky, and she finds this to be true after a strange turn of events causes her to take her twin sister's honeymoon in Hawaii with the best man who she loathes. The only thing is when they arrive, they make a truce, and after pretending to be newlyweds she discovers she might feel differently for best man Ethan than she once did.

Considering I hope to read a book a week, this list is really just a beginning. In fact, I'm open to any book recs if you have them! Now, hopefully you'll catch me reading these page turners poolside with a frozen Bellini in hand.

XOXO,

Kristin
