4 Outfits for the 4th of July That Aren't Tacky Flag Tanks

Look, I'll admit I'm not always the most patriotic person. In fact, until recently, I had a hard time finding any red, white, and blue outfit to wear on the Fourth of July. It was like my closet was completely devoid of those colors. I've also never been the one to wear an American Flag tank, swimsuit, shorts or anything really because I've always found them to be tacky. Now that my wardrobe has lots of red and blue, I decided it was time to take on the challenge of making an extremely casual American holiday fashionable. Plus, as usual I plan on being the most overdressed at my family cookout, so here are four not-so-tacky ways to overdress on the Fourth.

Blue Crop Tops and Jeans

Cause jeans and a nice top is always an option!

Jeans and a nice top are a great way to keep it casual, but still look a bit more put together than a tank top and shorts. To make this blue top and blue jean combo a bit more American, I paired it with a red belt and block heels. The most fun thing about this outfit is how girly and flirty the top is. It is off-the-shoulder and has a cute tie-back detail which sadly you can't see in the photo. I paired it with straight leg jeans since the top itself has so much shape and detail. In this, hands-down, you'd be the cutest at the family BBQ.

A Red Crop Top and Jeans

See the outfit above, but make it red, but not really. While these have similar ideas, the shape and structure of the garments is entirely different. This red top has feminine tie strap, but the fitted shape still allows it to look sleek. I paired it with distressed, baggy jeans to keep it casual, but then to make it #extra I added a gold belt and white, strappy, rhinestone stilettos. This is because on this holiday I intend to sparkle more than a firework.

A White Tank, Denim Shorts, and a Patriotic Swimsuit Peeking Through

I'll admit that this is a sports bra, and not a swimsuit.

This is the closest I'll ever be to wearing a "normal" 4th of July outfit, and I still chose to wear a pair of red heels. This tank, shorts, and swimsuit combination is a classic on this holiday for good reason. Many enjoy the beach, a pool, or a boat ride on this day, so, for them, a swimsuit is a must. Plus, we're in the middle of summer, so it's hot. To dress up this look a bit more I matched a red headband and belt to my heels.

A Blue Maxi Dress with Over-the-Top White Accessories

It's the obvious choice really.

If you know me, you know I make any occasion an excuse to dress-up, and this patriotic holiday is no different. The blue maxi dress is chic and has fun cut-outs. To make it even more over-the-top, I wore strappy, rhinestone, white heels, and a pearl headband. Not only am I all American, but I'm the most fashionable I'll ever be while channeling that. Obviously, this is the outfit I should choose for my family cook-out, and, no, they won't be the least bit surprised.

Any of these outfits will cause you to be the center of attention however you chose to celebrate the holiday. Just remember to add some sparkly eye shadow and red lipstick (this time I went with Chanel Pirate) to look even more patriotic. Oh, and Happy Independence Day!

XOXO,

Kristin
